ABOUT THE SPC LIBRARY

Statement of Mission

As part of Christian Education at Salisbury Presbyterian Church, the library seeks to provide Christian resources to support various ministries and the congregational needs of church members of all ages.

General Information about the SPC Library

The Library operates on an honor system and is open during church hours, and weekdays during regular church office hours. To check out a book, just write your name, address, phone number and book barcode (found in the top, left corner of the book) on the form that is provided on the counter next to our computer. After your initial visit to the library, you will be assigned a number and it will be necessary to write only your name and the barcode(s) of the book(s) you're borrowing. Although we do not specify the length of time that books may be kept, 4 weeks is suggested. We do not charge fines, but please keep other church members in mind when you have a book checked out.

GIFTS AND DONATIONS

The Library committee welcomes donations of new and/or gently used books with Christian or spiritual content or gifts of money. Because our space is limited, we reserve the right to remove, sell, trade, donate, or even destroy any book donated.

Donations to the Library are tax deductible, and written acknowledgements will be provided upon request.   Book donations may be left in the office on the volunteer desk. Please contact the church office, if you are interested in donating money for use in the church library.

SUGGESTED BOOK and ELECTRONIC MEDIA SPC LIBRARY GIFTS INCLUDE :

• Books or media about Christian education, Spiritual development, Social awareness, Loss of a loved one...
• Uplifting and thought-provoking recreational reading materials
• Classic titles in good condition
• Value-based children's books in new or good condition

 

     BIBLICAL RESOURCES AND REFERENCE                       GUIDES

Do you want to find a Bible passage about a specific topic ... in a hurry? Do you need to locate a brief description of someone or locate an event in the New Testament?

Well, maybe we can help. We have on our shelves, The Complete Book of Bible Literacy by Mark Taylor. This book contains over 1200 people, places, events, facts, and phrases about the Bible and the Church. You can even test your Bible knowledge with 14 self-scoring quizzes.

We also have two books that are topical reference guides to scripture: Find it Fast in the Bible by Ron Rhodes and God's Awesome Promises for Teens and Friends.

New Church Year...New Staff...New Church Offices...New SPC Library!

Our “new, improved-or at least moved” library will have it’s grand opening on Rally Day, September 13 between 9:00AM and 11:l5 AM. I will be there to help you find your way around.

In future the library should be open during regular Sunday church hours. During the week, please come to the office and ask Teri to let you in.

The Library's New Location is in the Activity Building (aka the Preschool Building). Enter from the playground parking lot. The Library is in the first room on your right (aka the 2 yr old room).

Please sign your books out in the library. ---And return your books to the office. You'll find a blue crate in the hallway near the offices and a basket for incoming books in the library as well, in case you forget. Thank you for your cooperation.
