This year, Salisbury Presbyterian Church will host 25 to 40 adult female guests for two weeks, November 22, 2008 through December 5, 2008.  This is the first year we will host over a two week period including Thanksgiving.  The response to our call for volunteers to help has been most gratifying.  Parishioners have come forward to help with meals, entertainment, logistics and a host of other details.  To all of you who have volunteered, we say thanks!  There are, however, a few remaining areas where we still need help. 

VOLUNTEERS UPDATE

1. Need for sleep-over volunteers:  Several open dates remain, particularly for Wednesday, November 26th or Thanksgiving Day, November 27th.  Other dates available are:  Sunday, November 3oth; Monday December 1st; and Wednesday, December 3rd through Friday December 5th.  A CARITAS staff member will be present overnight as well, so the duties of the church member are light:  Simply be present from 9:00 pm until 8:00 am or so the following morning.  Make coffee in the morning, put out breakfast items that will be left at the church the night before, pass out bag lunches and secure the building after our guests have left.  Member volunteers provide their own bedding and will be able to sleep in one of the upstairs Sunday school classrooms.
   
   
2. Need for laundry volunteers.  We need three people each evening willing to take two bags of laundry home to wash, fold and return to the church the following evening..  Again, the critical dates to fill are Wednesday, Thanksgiving Eve and Thursday, Thanksgiving Day.  Although 12+ people have already signed up, we still need at least 24 to 30 more willing to pitch in.
