HOW CAN I SERVE IN THIS WORSHIP/ MUSIC MINISTRY?

Thanks to all of you for the various ways you already participate and serve in our Worship and Music Ministry throughout the year -- singing in the choir, playing handbells, ushering, serving as lay leader, making the sanctuary beautiful with flowers, operating the sound each Sunday, preparing communion and more!  Each of you checked on your time and talent sheets that you participate or are interested in serving for Worship and/or Music.

If you have not yet participated in this Ministry, there are several ways that may interest you - and may be ways you haven't served in the past.  Here are some of our current opportunities and needs:

Serve on the Worship and Music Committee -- meet monthly on the 1st Tuesday of the month at 7:00 p.m. at church in the brides room.  Call me, Kristi Olsen (see contact info below) if you would like to join our committee!  We need at least one more person but welcome many more! We also need:

  • Additional volunteers to assist Marcia Davis, Sacristy Guild Chair, in preparing the elements for communion.  There is a group that assist with this and you would be part of a rotation.  Communion is scheduled 14 times this year and you would not help every time.

  • Additional volunteers to help with the sound system on Sundays.  Alan Unger is the Sound Guild Chair and we would arrange for you to be trained on the sound board and be part of a rotation.

  • Flowers for Christmas and Easter/Palm Sunday - we have an interim Flower Guild Chair for holiday flowers and Elizabeth Vance is the chair for the flowers each Sunday.  Easter flowers are underway and handled but need a permanent chair for Christmas flowers and 2010.  Time commitment is pocketed into two main times during the year and there are great instructions on exactly what to do.

If you are interested in volunteering in the above and/or in different ways this year, learning other aspects of the many ways the Worship and Music Committee serves SPC - give me a call on 379-8009 or email me on kolsen@leggmason.com.  We'd love to have you!
