STEWARDSHIP

"Give to Him freely and unselfishly, and the Lord will bless you in everything you do."   Deuteronomy 15:10

The Stewardship Committee is focused on celebrating the many ways members of Salisbury Presbyterian Church     demonstrate Christian stewardship through church activities, missions and giving.  Plans are underway to bring these “success stories” to you on an ongoing basis.  Stay tuned.  If you have ideas to offer or would like to be a part of this effort, feel free to contact any of the following Stewardship Committee members:  Chris Williams, Chair, Jeff Martin, Immediate Past Chair, Prem Das, Vice Chair, Sue Ward, Secretary, Joan Ashton, Mike Beale, Richard Mathes, John Montoro and Chris Vance.

The Stewardship Committee meets on the second Monday of each month at 7 p.m. in Room 206 of the F&E Building.  Please join us at our next meeting on June 9.

HAITI MISSION TRIP

For those interested in experiencing a life changing event, you are invited to join a group from SPC traveling to Haiti on October 17th for a week.  The group will be staying at the seaside compound of L”Acul, which is one of the best facilities in Haiti for mission groups.  Comprehensive Development Project (CODEP) has been under development for almost 20 years and now includes three watersheds where extensive reforestation and sustainable agricultural projects have been underway. (For more information see Http://haitifundinc.org )  Mission groups participate in a variety of projects around L’Acul or in the mountains. There will be ample time to become acquainted with the culture of the Haitians in this rural community.  Rick and Kathy Land, CODEP’S full time missionaries, will be our host and hostess.  We are limited to ten participants, so act now if you are interested.  Please contact Sue Barrie/sjbarrie@comcast.net  or Tammy Tipton-Nay/ ttipton-nay@salisburypc.org

SPC Mission Trip

Jonesville, Virginia

On April 24th, 2008, SPC members Chris Williams, Jeff Tarkington, Marcia Davis, Franklin Perkins, Eddie Beale, Barbara Lucas, Loran McGlynn, Rick Davis, and mission leader Sue Casey traveled to Jonesville, Virginia to work with the    Appalachia Service Project (ASP).  ASP is a Christian ministry, open to all people, that fosters human development by      addressing the housing needs of Central Appalachia.  Each year through the ASP ministry, about 15,000 volunteers repair homes for 400-500 low-income families in rural areas of Central Appalachia. The goal is to make homes warmer, safer and drier for families in need, while offering transformational experiences for families,    volunteers and staff alike.

Plans are underway for a return trip in the fall.  Maybe you’ll consider joining us!  You can see and read more about the trip by going to: www.salisburypc.org and
