SPECIAL SPC SUMMER VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES:
- BUILDING & GROUNDS INDOOR WORK DAY, Sat. July 24th
There are many projects to tackle and we are in need of approximately 30 enthusiastic workers. Please contact Richard Ott if you are able to help, so he knows how many projects can be completed. Our buildings have a tremendous amount of usage and it is important that we keep on top of maintenance.
- O.A.S.I.S. Ashley Milam will be here on Sunday, July 18 and 25 to discussand how we can become a part of this exciting ministry. This intergenerational class will be held in F&E. On Tuesday, July 27 the youth will meet here at 11AM and travel to O.A.S.I.S. for lunch and to help in the garden, and on Wednesday, July 28, families will have the opportunity to meet the children, have story time and work in the garden. Please contact Tammy Tipton-Nay if you are interested.
- The YMCA Bright Beginnings program offers new school clothing and a backpack filled with school supplies to children who would otherwise be without the necessities for starting school. Our SPCcommittee supports this program financially each year and asks the congregation to participate by purchasing a backpack and the required school supplies. Please visit the display in the narthex to select a backpack tag. You can also get information on shopping with a child for school clothing if your family would like to participate in that aspect of the program. For those who do not like to shop, this year we are offering the opportunity for you to make a $30.00 contribution (check payable to SPC, with YMCA/Outreach on the memo line) and we will purchase the backpack and school supplies for the child you select. All filled backpacks must be in the narthex by Sunday August 8
.- THE SPC Summer Food Drive has begun. Each month we will be asking for donations of a particular food item. A trunk will be located out in the Narthex for you to place your donated food which will be collected at the end of each month and taken to the Central Virginia Food Bank. For more information on CVFB you can go to www.feedmore.org. For the month of July, please bring canned chicken, ham, or tuna. Let’s fill that trunk!
